The Ultimate Four Product Routine

When it comes to skin and its care, keeping it simple delivers the best results.

In my experience, complicated, laborious, multiple product routines always get left by the wayside after a week or two. With busy lives, I’m not surprised.  Undoubtedly, the end result is a frustrated client making no headway with improving their skin health and a cabinet full of unused products going to waste. All leading to a massive ‘treatment failure’.

My philosophy when designing a homecare routine for any client is to start with the most basic products needed to improve and maintain their skin health. Everything else can be built around this approach.

The key products that form the basis of any routine include:

This is the opening act that sets the scene for further steps in your routine. It ensures the surface of your skin is clean and free from the days dirt and pollution. Ideally this cleanser will also have a gentle exfoliating effect with an Alpha/Beta/Poly Hydroxy Acid to help rid your skin of old skin cells, tackle textural irregularities and improve the moisture retaining capabilities of your skin.

Top Pick:

Skin Active Exfoliating Wash – cleanses gently and lightly exfoliates with sugar derived third generation Poly Hydroxy Acids (Maltobionic Acid and Gluconolactone) that helps to alleviate the appearance of photo ageing- lines, uneven pigmentation, rough skin and enlarge pores – and strengthens the skin barrier function to reduce sensitivities to irritants.

Antioxidants fight free radical damage from the environment e.g. Pollution, UV rays and prevent harmful oxidative stress that damage and cause mutations in skin cells. This is the work horse of your regime. Usually a lightweight serum and with the thinnest most penetrable texture, you need an antioxidant laden step to tackle imperfections at deeper within the skin.

Top Pick:

Antioxidant Defense Serum – Highly concentrated, multi action anti oxidant cocktail with Maltobionic Acid, Gluconolactone, Green Tea Extract, Vitamin C & E, Chardonnay Extract, Citric Acid and Lilac Lead Cell Culture to combat oxidative stresses and inflammation of the skin.

A Vitamin A derivative that is extremely important as an antioxidant treatment and a must have for any effective skincare regime. It enables better cell functioning as well as bolsters collagen in the deeper layers of skin, improves exfoliation and cell turnover meaning hyperpigmentation and dark marks are tackled quickly. A fantastic night time treatment for skin.

Top Pick:

Retinol + NAG Complex – a stabilised high strength slow release retinol combined with NeoGlucosamine to rebuild collagen, lift and plump the skin. One of the most comfortable advanced retinol formulations with no irritation and great for use tackling hyperpigmentation and dark marks on the skin.

The sun emits UVA and UVB rays - chief aggressors to the skin and responsible for premature ageing factors – depletion of collagen and elastin, loose/crepey skin, development of fine lines and wrinkles, exacerbating dark marks and hyperpigmentation. Therefore it is essential to apply a minimum SPF 30 broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen during the day when out and about.

Top Pick:

Sheer Physical Protection SPF 50 – stable oil free broad spectrum UVA/UVB mineral sunscreen with titanium dioxide and Iron Oxide. Helps to preserve the skins natural collagen, keeping it plump and firm, whilst Green Tea Extract, Lactobionic Acid and Vitamin E neutralise DNA and free radical damage.
